This mug would have been perfect except for one thing; there was not enough clay used. Some like the light weight feel, but for me it's also important for the beverage to stay warm as long as possible. Compared to my other mugs, this kept it luke warm for almost half an hour (from a coffee machine), while my favorite mugs reach 45 minutes.
The handle is perfectly large; three manfingers and not touching the side, and the broad base makes it harder to tip over. I'd call the "red" maroon so people who did not see the picture don't expect fire engine red. Beautiful color.
